Maximize Your Summer! (in August)

With only a few weeks left of summer, now’s the time to enjoy it!  Back to school is just around the corner, so if you haven’t taken that vacation, or spent an afternoon lounging by the pool, what’re you waiting for?  For a fun twist on your August to-do list, check out our activity suggestions for the rest of this month.

Take a Trip

You don’t have to fly across country to get a vacation.  Sometimes, all you need is a quick day trip to a different town to break up your routine. In Maryland, we’re about an hour away from everything!  You want to get closer to wildlife (but still have access to air conditioning)?  Try visiting Baltimore’s aquarium and/or zoo, or the free National Zoo in Washington, D.C.  Hiking, water ways, museums, etc. are all within the same radius. So, pick one you haven’t visited before and go!

Camp Out (At Home)

What better way to take advantage of the warm weather than to spend the whole night outside?  Start with a cookout, then as the sun begins to set, get a fire going.  Your friends and family can all hang out nearby, telling stories and making smores. Before falling asleep underneath the stars, of course.  (Well, in tents pitched in the yard—but it still counts!)  Or, if you get rained out, you can always have a back-up plan. We recommend making a blanket fort inside and conducting an all-night movie marathon.  Honestly, either option is sure to be a crowd-pleaser this summer.

Get Wet and Wild

Whether you love the beach or prefer the pool, how much time have you spent there so far?  Chance are, not enough.  So, put on your bathing suits, layer up the SPF, and head to the nearest body of water. We’ve got plenty of water parks to choose from throughout Maryland, plus public pools, natural lakes, and, of course, the Chesapeake Bay!  So, if you don’t feel like driving all the way to the coast, you don’t have to.  For the truly resourceful homeowner, you can even construct your own slip ‘n’ slide.  At this point in the season, you’re likely to find most of the supplies you need on sale!

Give Back

As a twist on more traditional summer activities, consider getting involved with a worthy cause this August.  There are plenty of back-to-school driven organizations that collect supplies for families in the area.  You can also partner with local nonprofits to clean up the environment nearby.  Or give back to our furry friends by working with animal shelters on-site and even through foster programs.  If you need help finding a good cause that will allow the whole family to participate,(link to check out this website for more information.

Of course, there are many more options than what we have listed here!  But, you’ll notice “home maintenance” is nowhere to be found.  Rather than spend your remaining summer on tedious tasks like power washing, allow us to help you!  Our professional services will save you time and money, so you can make the most of your remaining summer.  At Peak Power Wash, we’re a local resource throughout Maryland and Pennsylvania, helping you enjoy your August (and then some).
